ANGUS
Angus was our wonderful Great Dane that we had to put down on Friday, June 15th, 2012 due to kidney failure. He was 8½ years old.
We got Angus when he was 1½ years old and 136 pounds! At the time we had a yellow Lab named Maggie, who Angus looked up to for guidance and learning.
Angus was always very gentle and such a sweet boy, although his bark was intimidating to strangers. He was the talk of the neighborhood and all the kids loved to come and pet him while we went for walks.
He lived for rub downs and would walk up to you, lowering his head so that you would stroke his cheeks. He loved to cuddle on the floor on his sleeping bag and his giant fluffy pillow. On our cold Minnesota winters he enjoyed lying in front of the fireplace keeping nice and warm.
When it was time to eat, he would get so excited he’d twirl just before his dish was set down in front of him, so we needed to move out of the way to make room!
I miss giving him kisses on his nose and miss those beautiful tiger color eyes of his.
Our newest dog Peanut Butter (Beagle/Basset Hound), that we’ve had the last two years really misses Angus’s presence and is very reluctant to go outside by himself anymore. We can’t blame him. Who wouldn’t feel more confident with a big Great Dane brother by your side?
Angus, we will miss your large stature around the house. It will be different without you. You are “our big boy.” Enjoy and have fun with your life with Maggie on ‘the other side’.
Thank you Skip, for handling Angus so gently when you came for him. Vern and I are grateful for your service.
