In Memory of Cody:
This picture is of my cute “old man” playing keep away with a tennis ball. When we first got him he is was my baby boy, but in his latter years he became my old man. He didn’t play ball all that often, he was very calm and relaxed, so when he did, we took every advantage of the opportunity.
We got Cody from the Humane Society. The Humane Society told us they used him to help the dogs within the human society, who weren’t as dog-friendly, adjust to being around others. Because Cody was very calm, relaxed, and patient, it helped these dogs adjust. He was a very special boy.
One of my greatest memories of him was when I would come home from college. When we got Cody I was still in high school. Eventually, as life would have it, I went off to college. When I would finally come home on certain weekends or holidays he greeted me, as every dog does, with a wagging tail and (if he wasn’t too upset at me for leaving and if I was lucky) a kiss. But after everyone had, had their chances at hugs and hellos, I would sit on the floor with my legs out and he would come over and lay in between them and for a few short moments we would bond. It was peaceful. It was nice. And I’ll never forget it.
We all miss you, baby boy!
