Felix’s Story:
We got Felix at a pet store in Fargo, ND back in 2009. We had spent quite a while looking at all the dogs/puppies that were there. We came across a kennel that two Pomeranian/Doxie mix puppies that were brother and sister. I was handed the sister and my husband was handed the brother. Shortly after, the little guy was squirming in my husband’s arms, just trying to get to me. He literally jumped from my husband and went right into my arms. I handed the sister off to my husband, thinking that’s why he jumped to me. But no! The little guy snuggled right into my neck and into my heart. It was at that moment I knew, he was going home with me!
From that day on Felix was my baby. He loved car rides (unless it involved the vet) and he would always have to sit in my lap as I drove. Where ever I went, he went too. He was my cooking buddy. He would always sit by the corner cabinet and just watch me. Didn’t matter where I was, as long as he was with me. When our children were born, Felix was always close by. He had to be where the baby was. Whether it was a diaper change, bottle feed, or even a nap, he was there. His favorite thing to do was stand next to the crib and watch our sons sleep.
Felix was more than just a dog. He was a family member, my baby. He had a heart bigger than his body. He was always so excited to greet people at the door (even though he barked). He was ready with kisses if he saw you upset. He was the biggest sweetheart, even though he acted like he was a big tough dog, even though he was small in size (his bark made up for it). To me, he acted more human than he did a dog.
Oh how I will miss our late night snacks. He would always grab a mouthful of dog food and come running just to sit next to me on the couch and eat it beside me. I will miss our snuggle time. His snore. Bedtime will never be the same. But most importantly, I will miss the smirk he gave and the twinkle in his eye whenever he looked at me so lovingly. He was TRULY a momma’s boy!
Felix, you came into my life in such a special way. You were so beautiful and so smart! You were my baby and my sweet companion. I loved you from the very start! Though I knew the time would come, where we would have to part. Felix you’ll never be forgotten, for you left paw prints on my heart.
Momma loves you, my sweet boy.
