About Luca D. Boettcher

Luca D. Boettcher

April 2010 – June 28, 2024

Luca D. Boettcher, 14, passed away peacefully at home Friday in Saint Paul. Born in 2010 in Red
Lake, the good people at Heartland Animal Rescue Team in Brainerd took Luca (nee Tucker) in for a
better chance at adoption. From there a volunteer foster parent in the Twin Cities, through the
organization All Dog Rescue, cared for Tucker in the Spring and early summer of 2010.

Around the same time a young couple in Saint Paul, Nick and Rachel, inspired by their childhood
experiences with dogs and a meeting with their friend’s Lab-Rottweiler mix Bodhi, decided to welcome a
canine into their home.

Luca graciously accepted and, with that, they became a pack.

(Some years later Luca Boettcher became Luca D. Boettcher (the “D” is for “Dog”) thanks to an astute
veterinarian’s medication-labeling practices.)

To the end, Luca enjoyed food, begging for food and the sensations of things dogs consider food,

fragrant or both. He also, for most of his life while his body allowed, enjoyed walks, jogs, belly rubs,
fetch and trips to the dog park, especially with his good buddy Bodhi.

Luca is survived by his humans Rowan, Auggie, Rachel and Nick, loving human grandparents Lance and
Mary of Black Earth, Wisconsin and Julie Anderson of Brainerd, Minnesota, their families, and an
unknown number of littermates.

We love you, Luca. Thanks for making us a pack. May you rest in peace.
