Misty the Cockatiel – April 3rd, 2006 – December 24th, 2020
Misty was born to Pete and Petunia, and hatched a few days before her little brother Windy. In the months of their childhood, Misty and her little brother cuddled and snuggled constantly, and forged a bond that would last until her death almost fifteen years later. She would preen Windy’s head feathers and feed him almost every day. Misty adored eating, and loved corn chips, scrambled eggs, grape nut cereal, sunflower seeds, and millet. Misty was never interested in human interaction, secure in the knowledge that she was a member of the superior species. This human, Hannah, enjoyed watching Misty take care of her brother, play with her toys, and explore their many play areas. After Misty’s mother died in 2013, her father Pete moved in with Misty and Windy. Hannah the human built a playplace for them with braided cloth vines, little cardboard houses to hide in, and tagboard leaves to chew up. Misty loved sitting under the tagboard leaves with her family and chewing new designs in the cardboard houses. Misty died suddenly on Christmas Eve, but was surrounded by her brother and dad when she passed. Windy misses her very much but knows she is with her Creator, and he will be okay. In the spring, her ashes will be buried next to her mother Petunia.
