Morgan (King)
September 1996 – March 10, 2012
Morgan was adopted at age 2 ½ and lived 13 years with me. What a gift!! With the direct gaze of a border collie and the cheerful demeanor of a Springer, he made many human friends. He loved daily walks – frequently with his girlfriends down the street, trips to the lake cabin, walks along the creek, kayaking/canoeing, going to “Camp Lew & Margaret”, waking Travis, and visiting all his special buddies. He especially loved parties. In his younger days he was wild about balls, stuffed toys, squeaky toys and romps at the dog park.
Always well behaved, he enjoyed visiting the bank, Bone Adventure, Paradise Pizza and any place else that offered dog cookies. He traveled regularly – camping, staying in hotels and visiting friends. He entertained residents at Jones Harrison on Cedar Lake for seven years with his enthusiasm for tricks and his happy prance down the hall.
And he was “all dog” when it came to chipmunks, bunnies and the pleasures of being outdoors with a nose. He chased fox, caught a fish, swam, scouted for frogs, spent hours herding chipmunks in the woodpiles, and delighted at any opportunity to be around a cat.
He was known by friends as “the best boy” for his consistently good manners and “Morgeinstein” for his capacity to clearly understand over 100 words. When he became deaf at age 14 he quickly trained his humans to communicate with hand signals. He had a big heart too – expressing compassion and offering comfort when someone was down.
His body wore out after 15 ½ years, but his attitude was bright until the end. Special thanks to Diane and Heather for the insights and care they provided to him. He died peacefully at home attended by his human buddies – Janna and Travis. His bright spirit continues to bring smiles and lives on in many hearts. Good boy Morgan!!
