About Olivia
Passed on January 20, 2014
Sweet Olivia was our first foster dog who came to us at about 6 months sickly, underweight and mangy. We weren’t planning on having a third dog but as we nursed her back to health and found her to have such a sweet disposition, gentle with kitties, loved the kids and all around good natured we knew we couldn’t let her go. We adopted her and failed at our first foster adventure. Olivia was like a big sister to all our other foster pets, cats and dogs alike and was very tolerant of their many antics. When we first got her she was an escape artist and found the smallest of holes to get out of the yard until we “Olivia” proofed it and earned another nickname of “the 80 pound hamster.” She could military crawl under the bed but chose not to, as often, after having TPLO surgeries to repair her torn ACL ligaments in her knees. She always did have a funny way of running, not sure if it’s an American Bulldog thing though as we haven’t seen another one run yet. Olivia was ALWAYS the kitties’ favorite dog as she loved to snuggle. She never lost a game of tug-o-war and loved soccer balls and always wanted whatever toy the other dog had. Her many facial expressions were priceless as she always wore her heart on her sleeve. She was leery of new people (mainly men) but given a little time and patience would warm up to them and became their new best friend. She loved to sun on the deck on warm sunny days. I don’t think the family camp trips were ever on her top list of favorite thing to do but she would always make the best of it. Her favorite things though were anything she could get a good chew on whether it was bones, pig ears or chew toys. She drove us a bit crazy at times with squeaking the squeaky toys as fast and as many times as she could, and if she didn’t like a stuffed toy would de-stuff it fairly quickly. Her favorite “stuffy” was her Red Bull beanie bow wow. She was a part of the family even though she had a soft fur coat and walked on all fours. We miss you- Our Big Blonde Beautiful Bulldog.
