About Piper Essig
Piper “Doo” Essig
Piper “Doo” came into our family at 4-months-old and stole the hearts of both his human family and his fur brothers. He lived a happy full life of 18 years. During that time, he was the top dog in the house, even your much bigger German Shepherd brothers gave you space and respect. He was usually very quiet unless you were late with his food. You could set your watch by him, if you were a minute past 6 am or 6 pm he verbally let you know it was time to eat. His constant companion over the past 8 years was his fur brother, Brody, a Chihuahua with an attitude. The last couple of years Piper faced health issues and Brody was always there being his eyes, ears and caretaker as things got worse. Pipers favorite spot was in our arms, if you were holding him, he was as content and happy as could be. He loved to be held and would sleep for hours in our arms. He was the bravest, toughest little guy there was. He overcame deteriorating eyesight, hearing loss, fought collapsing trachea and an enlarged heart. When he came down with phenomena and couldn’t shake it we knew it was time. We made the very difficult decision for Piper to cross the rainbow bridge. Mom, Dad, Sissy and Brody will always love and miss you. Be free, breathe easy and play happy with your fur brothers that crossed before you.
