About Ryder Hunter
Ryder “Fly Guy” Wakan was born on October 7th, 2018. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 3rd, 2024 in Russ’s arms, up at Kab. Fly guy was an independent bundle of joy. He embodied beauty & radiated happiness! Ry-Ry was very gentle & caring, yet a mighty tooth hugger. Far from a snuggler- reserved kisses mostly for his Grandmother. Ryder enjoyed fishing with his Grandpa Gary and his Uncle, Barry Dusty Ladd. He loved road trips with his Auntie Stacy to his favorite yard in Florida, where he chased armadillos. Ryder appreciated his Uncle Bill for letting him do anything he wanted. Ryder was always part of the crew. Many thanks to all of his friends. Mike for the Sturgis trips, brisket and toy monkey. Kev for always sharing half of his meals. His roommate Shane for the jerky & tooth hugs. …and many other people whose hearts he captured. He appreciated all of the laps he laid on during his travels too.
Russ and Ryder were inseparable. They made it to Sturgis Rally the last 2 years, Daytona Bike Week, Colorado’s 420 Freedom Fest 3 years. True to his name, Ryder traveled to 20 states in his lifetime. Stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. Toured St. Augustine via trolley and horse drawn carriage. Fly Guy traveled the UP, Colorado, and loved the freedom to run the islands at Kab. Once he swam in 3 great lakes in one day! A lake dog all the way.
Ahhh, the life of Ryder! He was an amazing climber. We joked that he must have been a mountain goat in a past life. Fly guy loved his daily walks, dog parks, and his great adventures. Ry-Ry recognized nature’s beauty and soaked up the scenery right alongside us. He was super social and made friends everywhere he went. He loved getting bark boxes, eating soup bones, pup-cups, and Arby’s turkey Sliders. Fly Guy was our Ryde or Die.
We are very grateful for the time we’ve shared with Ryder. Ry-Ry was loved by all who knew him and his death has sent a ripple of sadness throughout the crew. May each of us hold dear the memories shared throughout his years. Fur-ever loved.
Rest Easy, Love You Infinitely-
Knight Ryder
