About Sadie
Passed on December 19, 2014
When sorrow comes, they come not single spies. But in Battalions! (Hamlet) Today I am paying tribute and later today sill be saying a final goodbye to my Best friend, Sadie. I know to most she was a dog but to us she was family. She loved unconditionally and whoever showed up she was always eager to include them into those she needed to count and protect. I think Sadie influenced me to be a better person, she taught me patience and to make sure my priorities were in line with …what was truly important, my family. Sadie reminded me to stop and look at the wonder of everything around us every day that we are all too busy to see. She was my friend and companion that was always open to an adventure on last minute’s notice which was helpful given John’s work schedule at times. I will remember when we first met her she trotted off next to her mom carrying a flower in her mouth, then a few days later John and Sadie were running around at Sakatah the weekend she came to live with us. I loved the way she curled herself around the baby swing to protect Callie when she first came home or when she was determined to give Aidan a welcoming kiss despite none of the humans allowing it (Yes, she was victorious). Most of all I loved her happiness. She was simply happy most of the time and the few times she wasn’t (because you had stopped throwing her ball) her huge sigh would let you know. I have heard all dogs go to heaven – I hope that is true. I am sure several of her friends are waiting for her and they are running, chasing balls free of limitations and pain. I know a couple of great guys that will be there to greet her too!
May the Road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face…
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His Hand
