About Stan Hurdt
2010 – 2022
Stan, AKA Stanley, Stanner, Stanny, Mister and as he referred to himself, the “Wizard”. (“Wizard Dog” was confirmed by an “animal reader” who spoke with Stan.)
Well, it’s all true, as his behavior proved it ever so true in the 12 years Stan was with us. Born in the year 2010, Stan came to live with us, along with one of his siblings, Ollie. Ollie left this world and crossed the rainbow bridge 4 years prior to Stan’s passing. Stan is survived by his 2 canine golden retriever brothers, Gunny and Ruger, and his feline brother, Mojo.
Stan was what you’d call an “old soul”, we called him “All business”. He was never into playing with doggie toys, or fetch, was never a real cuddler unless HE was in the mood for it.. As he would put it, his job is to lead his brothers and show them the way, because that’s what a Wizard dog does.
Stan did however LOVE the cabin. He loved to go for walks,( sometimes on his own when he would sneak off while you were busy and not looking). He loved boat rides, sitting on dad’s lap at the steering wheel, and watching dad reel in fish. He could catch a treat better than any retriever, especially if it was meat! He loved wading in the water and “fishing”, and he actually started enjoying chasing balls with his brothers later in life even if he never actually caught one.
He took a liking to Mojo after a few years ( the first few were spent chasing him every chance he got), but I think he realized that they were both old souls as they would share the loveseat for naps together.
He was tough old boy, a regal Scottish Terrier from a championship bloodline, and he knew it.
We will miss him dearly, but knowing his brothers and sisters before him were there to greet him at the Rainbow Bridge, somewhat eases our grief.
Until we meet again Stan.. run free, your spirit lives on.
All our Love,
Mom, Dad, Heather, Lenny and Austin… Gunny, Ruger & Momo.
