About Sterling Opheim

Sterling
came into my life after a move to Minneapolis in late June 2012. Rescued from the aftermath of a large thunderstorm leaving him alone and abandoned by his family, I was more than happy to scoop up the vociferous Russian blue. He remained by my side through
many pivotal moments of my life and in the fall of 2016 he gained a stepdad and brother named Bruce. Sterling loved to play with his sibling, stare at falling snow and neighborhood birds, cuddle with Mom and happily follow Dad around the house. A very intelligent
kitty, he found great joy in getting in and out of cabinets, scaling tall counters, drinking running water and spinning his penguin to procure yummy treats. He slept in boxes, paper grocery bags, and on blankets in my lap; he snoozed in his cat tent, cat tunnel
and on kitchen peninsulas; most recently, he spent his afternoons slumbering in the sunroom and home office – often next to his best friend, Bruce. At his happiest, he would rest on his back in “bunny pose” or rub his itchy face against your hand or face.
At his most scared, he would stick close Dad – tensely curled into a cat loaf as he waited out the final thunder booms. Sterling was incredibly loved and adored by his parents, caretakers, and friends. Rest in peace, Sterling, you are missed beyond measure.
You will forever remain fondly in our memories – our lives are so much greater having had you as part of the family.
