Sydney (aka Meece Mom)
February 2003 – October 17th, 2020
Sydney came into my life almost 17 years ago as a rescue from a friend who could no longer care for her. She was almost 1 year old and already full of spunk, sass and the cutest voice that talked to me throughout the day as she followed me around my apartment. Siamese are generally known for being vocal and loyal cats and she was no exception.
Through the years she was with me for some of the most formative times in my life as we traveled the country from Minnesota, to 10 years in California, then back to Minnesota 4 1/2 years ago. And as I soon leave again, this time for Las Vegas, I struggle to cope with the fact that she is not making this new journey with me.
I miss you dearly Sydney, and not a day goes by that I don’t anticipate you jumping on my computer chair, hogging the heater and my arm rest, your warm body curled up on my left side at night or your insistence at being under my feet everywhere I went. I can still feel your presence in the house, and it takes my breath away thinking I’ve seen you. You’ve stolen a piece of my heart with your absence, and each day as I remember you, I work to wipe away the tears and remember the long happy life you lived.
A friend recently wrote to me “17 years speaks volumes of love for each other”, and it has never been truer of a pet for me.
Rest easy, sweet Meezy
